:00. for updates at any time, log onto our website wjla.com. >> another big story we are following is the culmination of the closely watched corruption scandal. today, leslie johnson announced that she is resigning from the prince george's county council. this is just days after she pleaded guilty to corruption charges. we're live with the latest developments. >> last week when she pleaded guilty she said she was going to do with the law allowed, stay in office until her sentencing in october. she heard a chorus of people politicians, voters, saying you should step down now. today, she said she has had a change of heart. she is listening to those people sort of. >> not long after her lawyer put out a statement saying she would resign from the county council july 31st, leslie johnson got up and walked out of the council chambers. the county executive said he is happy to see her go. >> i am glad that she has come to that decision. i think it is in the best interest of the county to get a permanent member on the council. >> the rest of the council announced that an end of july departu
john boehner has called off talks with president obama. we go to the white house. >> a big deficit reduction package. i thought it would be useful for me to give you some insight into where we were and why, i think that we should have moved forward with a big deal. essentially, what we had offered speaker boehner was over $1 trillion in cuts to discretionary spending, both domestic and defense. we then offered an additional $650 billion in cuts to entitlement programs. medicare medicaid, social security. we believe that it is possible to shape those in a way that preserves the integrity of the system, makes them available for the next generation, and does not affect beneficiaries in an adverse way. in addition, what we saw it was revenues that were actually less than what they signed off on with the gang of six. the bipartisan group and the republicans in leadership in the senate, what they called for. it was effectively $2 trillion above the republican baseline. what we said was, give us $1.2 trillion in additional revenues which could be accomplished without hiking taxes, but co
